Curtis Vokaty

There will be a private family service for Curtis Vokaty of Glenwood, Minnesota. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck.  Burial will be at St. Timothy’s Catholic Cemetery rural Maple Lake, Minnesota.

There will be a live stream of Curt’s service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4th, 2020.  To view the service, on this page, scroll to the bottom and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  The funeral service will also be uploaded to our website if you are unable to attend the live stream.

Curtis James Vokaty, son of Harry and Rose Mary (Novak) Vokaty, was born June 2, 1933, in Maple Lake Township near Maple Lake, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. On February 2, 1952, Curt enlisted into the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged on January 26, 1956.  Curt returned to the family farm where he began farming. He later began working road construction at Hard Drives, Alexander Construction and Bitumious Paving all while farming on the side.  He was united in marriage to Gabriele Bieschke-Weber on October 28, 2006.  The couple made their home in Glenwood.  He continued to live in Starbuck until the time of his death.

Curtis was a member of Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Lowry American Legion, Sportsman Club and served on the Maple Lake Township Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and loved all animals, especially dogs. Most of all, Curt cherished his time with his family and friends.

Curtis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  He was 86 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Becky of Glenwood; five children: Chris (Sheryl Kjellberg) Vokaty, Randy (Laurie) Vokaty, Linda Nelson, David Vokaty and Tim (Angie) Vokaty; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his dog, Barney and his cat, Larry.  He was preceded in death by his parents, several cousins, and his beloved dog Harry.
