Evelyn Ann Rogers, daughter of Earl and Beatrice (Kohlor) Rogers, was born on September 12, 1929 in Missoula, Montana. She grew up in Plains, Montana, where she attended grade school and graduated high school. After graduation she worked as a furrier-seamstress with her mother. The family then moved to Spokane, Washington, where her father worked for Burlington Northern Railway and Evelyn worked at Old National Bank in Spokane.

Evelyn met Joseph Mickelson on a blind date. They were married on June 20, 1954 in Dishman, Washington near Spokane. They later moved to Moses Lake, WA, where Joseph started working for the Boeing Corp. The job took them from state to state. After their retirement, Evelyn and Joseph moved back to the family farm near Starbuck, MN and also spent many winters in Arizona. In the spring of 2014, Evelyn and Joe made their home with their daughter Karen in Sioux Falls, SD, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Evelyn was a member of East Zion Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Starbuck. She enjoyed cooking, needlework, camping and fishing with her family.

Evelyn died on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was 90 years old.

She is survived by two daughters: Kathy (Ben) Smith of Eatonville, WA and Karen McGregor of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one brother.
