Judy Lee Gaulke, daughter of Walter and Alice (Salvog) Gaulke, was born October 22, 1944 in Appleton, Minnesota. Judy attended school in Appleton through the third grade and later graduated from Morris High School in 1962. Following her schooling, Judy attended Myndall Cain Beauty College in Minneapolis and worked at Sears Roebuck.  She was united in marriage to Gary Hickman on December 14, 1963 at First Lutheran Church in Morris.  In 1966, Judy and Gary made their home in Morris where they raised their son, Scott.  Judy ran daycare out of her house, worked at the Fingerhut, S & L Department Store and Perry Jergenson Super Valu.  Gary and Judy also owned and operated Central Canvas and Ag Belting.  Gary died April 9, 1990.  Shortly after Gary’s death, Judy moved to Fargo, North Dakota.  While living in Fargo, she owned and operated her own cleaning business, cleaning residential homes.  In 1995, Judy moved back to Morris for a year to care for her mother before her passing.   Judy continued to live in Fargo until 2017 when she moved back to the farm to live with her son, Scott.  She continued to live in Morris until the time of her death.

Judy was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris, sang in church choir and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.  She enjoyed knitting, playing piano, jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  She loved being outdoors – mowing, pulling weeds and tending to her yard and garden.  Judy was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan and loved watching football.  Judy will be remembered as a hard worker, always busy, and always taking care of others.

Judy passed away peacefully, with her son by her side, at her home on Friday, July 10, 2020.  She was 75 years old.

She is survived by her son: Scott Hickman of Morris; granddaughter: Allyssa (Steven) Harrington of Hastings and great-grandson Spencer Harrington; she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary and her parents.
