Lorraine Marie Kvam was born in Starbuck, Minnesota on February 2, 1942 to Selmer and Evelyn (Nelson) Nyhusmoen. She was raised in Langhei Township on the family farm.  She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at West Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend K.R. Palmer then later confirmed at West Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend L.C. Anderson.  Lorraine graduated from Starbuck High School in 1961.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Ronald Kvam of Lowry on November 1966 at West Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend Gordon Syverson. Their daughter, Janice was born to this union.  Later on, the couple would divorce, with Lorraine moving to Starbuck.

After her divorce, Lorraine worked at the Starbuck School as custodian for a few years.  She then started working for Pope County doing homemaking services for people in Starbuck.  Lorraine liked helping out her clients, along with making friends with many of them through the years.  Lorraine's favorite things to do were to bake and listen to country music.  She was well known for her "awesome" apple crisp, banana bread and pies.  She liked to keep extras in the freezer for when company would visit or just to share with the neighbors.  Lorraine was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan; she would watch them on TV while wearing her Twins shirt.  Lorraine was also very proud of her grandsons, enjoying time with them, especially to the Dairy Queen for a treat.

Lorraine passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Holly Ridge in Starbuck.  She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her daughter: Janice (Sam) Raaum of Starbuck; grandsons: Carroll Raaum and Ross (Brianna) Raaum of Starbuck; brother: Sidney (Sandy) Nyhusmoen of Glenwood; sisters: Vi Felt of Starbuck and Marion (Bob) Lageson of Big Lake and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother: Maynard; ex-husband: Ronald and special friend: Dennis Duvall.

Starbuck Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements for Lorraine.
