Marjorie attended country school until 8th grade; she then went one year at Hancock Public Schools before attending Martin Luther Prep School in New Ulm where she graduated. Following her schooling, she moved back to Hancock and began working at the Hancock Creamery, candling eggs. While working there, she met Orville “Curly” Berget, who was a butter maker; the two began dating and were married on December 29, 1950 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Parsonage.
