Mary Anderson

There will be a private family service for Mary I. Anderson of Morris, Minnesota. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery, Morris, Minnesota.

Mary Irene Ewers, daughter of Ermon J. and Katherine (Morgan) Ewers, was born on December 2, 1924 in Mobridge, South Dakota.  She lived near Selfridge, South Dakota until 1935 when she moved to Johnson, Minnesota and went to school in Graceville, Minnesota.  She then moved near Dumont, MN and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1944.  She was united in marriage to Wallace W. Anderson on February 10, 1947. Following their marriage the couple farmed north of Wheaton until 1955 when they moved to Morris.  Wally worked at the University of Minnesota Morris Agriculture School and Mary worked at Willie’s Red Owl.  She later worked at Ben Franklin, Varnum’s Hardware and Coast to Coast.  Wally passed away on January 1, 1979. Mary continued to live in Morris and later she found a great friend and dancing partner in Dale Bruns.

Mary was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star, First Lutheran Church, and was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.  She loved to dance, play cards, and spend time with her kids and grandkids.

Mary passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at West Wind Village in Morris.  She was 95 years old.

She is survived by two daughters: Cheryl (Ron) Kenyon of Alberta and Janelle (Don) Kill of Alberta; five grandchildren: Jody (Craig) Silbernick of Sartell, Michael (Jenny) Kill of Morris, Ryan (Allison) Kill of West Fargo, ND, Denise (Doug) Koch of Monticello and Brittany (Brady) Rose of Morris; 13 great-grandchildren: Zach (Shelby) Silbernick of Eau Claire, WI, Connor Silbernick of Sartell, Taylor, Haley, Jacob, Addison and Grasyn Kill, Payton, Aubrey and AJ Koch, and Kyson, Blakely and Charlee Rose; sister-in-law: Jean Ewers of Alexandria; brothers-in-law: Darwin (Donna) Anderson of Wheaton and Frank Finke of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her parents and one brother: Jim Ewers.
