Memorial Services for Pamela Hippe, of Benson, Minnesota, will be on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck.  Pastor Steve Carmany will be officiating.   Visitation will be on Thursday, January 6th from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Burial will be at the East Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Pamela Jean Schaub was born on July 29, 1947 to Kenneth and Eldora (Berg) Schaub in Glenwood, Minnesota.  She was raised in Glenwood where she was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church.  Pam received her education in Glenwood, graduating with the Glenwood High School class of 1964.  Following high school, she attended the Willmar Vocational School in Willmar, earning her cosmetology degree.  She moved to the Twin Cities where she worked as a beautician in Edina.  While living in the cities, she would make her way home on the weekends and would attend local dances at the Lakeside Ballroom.  One weekend, she met Herbert Hippe of Starbuck; they began dating and were married on November 16, 1968 at Glenwood Lutheran Church.  They made their home on a farm in rural Starbuck, Minnesota, where they raised their family and farmed. Throughout their time on the farm, they moved three times – all within the same three mile radius.  In 1999, they retired to Benson where Pam lived until her death.

Pam was a member of East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck where she taught Sunday School and was the youth choir director for many years – her favorite was directing the Christmas program each year.  Pam had a love of farming and the land, she grew a bountiful vegetable garden every summer and would give her produce to family and neighbors.  Pam raised hogs, tending to them day in and day out, and she loved it.  Pam was short, spunky, and stubborn.  You could always tell when she wasn’t happy – especially if you were called by your first and middle name.  She was patient, kind and had a big caring and generous heart.  Family was Pam’s number one priority.  She could be heard as the loudest one cheering on her sons at their wrestling meets.  She made it a point to call her boys daily to check on them and their families, each at specific times.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the daily meals with her family around the table, a tradition that has been passed down to the next generation.  She had a deep love for her grandchildren and loved playing with them.  She will be missed greatly for her big hugs that she loved to give and receive.

Pam passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota.  She was 74 years old.

Pam is survived by her husband, Herb of Benson; children: Roger (Becky) Hippe of Starbuck, Phil (Karissa) Hippe of Starbuck, Tim (Lea) Hippe of Starbuck, Jodi Brandt of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren: Jennifer (Cody) Flower, Lee (Jenae Phelps) Hippe, Kaitlyn Hippe, Hailey Zimmerman, Jaiden Zimmerman, Graidy Zimmerman, Darin Hippe, Grayson Hippe, Jacob Lien, Lucky Hippe, Joshua Hippe, John Hippe, and Kassaundra Hippe; brother, Jeff (Gayle) Schaub of Vadnais Heights; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister and her husband, Janice and Thomas Danielson.

Starbuck Funeral Home is in care of arrangements for Pam.
