Shirley Goracke

Funeral services for Shirley Goracke of Morris, MN will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN with Father Todd Schneider officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.

Shirley Lou Ann Amborn was born in Leonardsville Township, Traverse County, Minnesota on October 18, 1935, the last child to Louis Sr. and Annie (Davis) Amborn.  Shirley attended school in the Morris School District, graduating with the Morris High School Class of 1953.  Following her education, she began working in Morris for an attorney.  At the age of 16, Shirley met Donald Goracke at the Stevens County Fair.  The two began dating and were married on August 11, 1956, at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris.  Don and Shirley purchased their home on Park Avenue where they welcomed their five children.  Shirley devoted her life to her family and friends.

Shirley was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, and in her earlier years, served on the Morris Area High School Booster Club.  Shirley loved growing and receiving flowers, reading, playing cards, solving puzzles and family gatherings.  She was known for being exact and at times, a bit sassy.  Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, her family is what she cherished most!

Shirley died on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN; she was 86 years old.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Donald of Morris; her children: Bruce (Julie) Goracke of Rochester, Brian (Vanessa) Goracke of San Tan Valley, AZ, Beth (Chuck) Vossen of Maple Grove, Brenda (Ken) McDonald of Alexandria and Brent (Tanya) Goracke of Jordan; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Amborn Sr. and Annie Amborn; and her brothers, Louis Amborn Jr., and Stanley Amborn.
