William Floyd

William Elmer Floyd, son of Elmer and Norma (Wollan) Floyd, was born in Glenwood, MN, on February 2, 1943. He attended Glenwood Public School and graduated while serving in the Army. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany, serving in the Artillery from February 9, 1961- January 29, 1964, and a part of Specialist Four. After serving his country Bill moved to Minneapolis and began to work.  He worked for the railroad, transportation service, had his own lawn care business, and worked many other occupations during his lifetime and spent many years in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Floyd for almost 15 years. They were blessed with two children: Christopher and Dawn. Around 10 years ago, Bill retired in Starbuck, MN.

His hobbies included playing softball, dancing and listening to music, and was known for being a social butterfly.

William died on Tuesday morning, March 16, 2021, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. He was 78 years old.

He is survived by his children: Christopher (Leanne) Floyd of San Diego, CA, and Dawn (Mark) Swart of Minneapolis, MN; his brother, Gerald Floyd of Lowry, MN; sister, Stella Ward of Duluth, MN; grandchildren: Sara Floyd of Oberland, Louisiana, Ciara Swart and Tanner Swart, both of Minnetonka, MN, and Christopher Jr. of San Diego, CA; two great-grandchildren, Serenity and Alexavior, both of Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Norma (Wollan) Floyd, and sisters Millie and Pat.

The family of William Floyd would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Maanum and the staff at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood for the kind and loving care that William received.
